A pic a week of graffiti in Williamsburg.

Just a girl in NYC who likes spray paint.

Let’s pretend I started this blog this year instead of last year and start fresh, shall we? Happy 2012. Here’s to new beginnings! :)

I’m glad I grabbed this pic when I did. This collage graffiti of Billie Holiday has since been painted over. The image isn’t the exact same pic as the one used on The Essential Billie Holiday album cover, but it is similar.

I just find this particular week’s work fascinating and, well, just pretty darned trippy. Is it a hat? A pet? A spirit animal? All of the above?

I moved back to NYC recently from Southern California and Williamsburg, Brooklyn is my new neighborhood of choice. Among other plusses, the graffiti here is really amazing, so this blog is an ode to the street art I’m lucky enough to enjoy every day. Beats driving past rows of soulless, sanitized, shopping malls by a long stretch.
This first week’s piece is on the side of the building that houses Mollusk Surf Shop (yes, people really do surf in NYC!).
